The King's Gallery London & Sparkling Tea at The Royal Horseguards Hotel for Two

Enjoy a day out visiting The King's Gallery which is located adjacent to Buckingham Palace, on the site of what was once a private chapel for Queen Victoria.

The chapel was destroyed in an air raid in 1940, and at the suggestion of Queen Elizabeth II and The Duke of Edinburgh it was developed as an art gallery for the Royal Collection in 1962.

In 1997, a project began to expand and modernise the gallery, the most significant addition to Buckingham Palace in 150 years. The King's Gallery was opened by Queen Elizabeth II in May 2002 as part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, and today it hosts a programme of changing exhibitions from the Royal Collection.

The program of exhibitions for 2025 are:
Drawing the Italian Renaissance - Until the 9th March 2025
The Edwardians: Age of Elegance - 11th April – 23rd November 2025

An impressive historic building in London, The Royal Horseguards Hotel is situated on the River Thames at the Embankment.
It encompasses two iconic buildings: The National Liberal Club which has played host to historical icons including Churchill, Gladstone and Lloyd-George; and the club’s magnificent apartments which were previously the home of the first chief of Britain’s Secret Intelligence Service.

When can I go?

The King's Gallery is open Thursday to Monday, closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. The Royal Horseguards afternoon tea is served daily, from 13.00 - 16.30. Excluding bank holidays and selected days throughout the year.
