What did you get up to?
We visited the Sunborn Yacht Hotel for an overnight stay and 3 course meal, as part of my wife’s 40th birthday celebrations. We travelled into the city by train and jumped on the underground to Custom House, where the boat is moored on the Thames. On arrival at the quayside, you get the instant sensation that this is not going to be your average hotel stay, as you are greeted by the 120m Sunborn super yacht in all its glistening glory!
Once on board, we were welcomed by friendly staff and given the keys to our room. The inside of the boat is just as spectacular as the outside, with a grand staircase and chandeliers dominating the main reception area.
Our beautiful king-size room had its own private balcony overlooking the Thames and the city, which gave us an opportunity to relax and take in the sights before dinner. Dinner was booked for 8pm, so once we had changed into our glad rags, we made our way to the bar for a pre-dinner drink. The restaurant is situated at the top of the grand staircase, which gives you a great opportunity to take a few snaps next to the chandeliers on your way up! Our 3 course meal was absolutely lovely, I had the steak and Emma had the corn fed Chicken, accompanied by a few glasses of fizz!
We have 2 kids, so we took advantage of a full night’s sleep in our super comfy king sized bed! In the morning, we decided to explore the boat and as the evening rain had cleared we were able to get out onto the sun decks and have a coffee. Our stay also included a full English breakfast, which was fantastic and filled us up for our planned day in the city.
Overall, we had a great restful break away and could not fault the staff, accommodation and food. The Sunborn offers a unique way to stay in city and offers a bit of the wow factor, especially when celebrating a special occasion. We would definitely recommend it and would love to return!

Our favourite part of the experience the 3 course meal. The restaurant setting was amazing overlooking the city lights and the food was top class, which made Emma’s birthday celebrations extra special.

Easy check in, beautiful room, included dinner delicious and bar service very good. Only slight negative was buffet only breakfast which was average and the parking at the Excel was a nightmare as Comic Con was on.

Everything about our one night stay was brilliant. The cabin was well appointed complete with balcony river view,comfortable beds and fluffy bath robes add slippers.The 3 course evening meal was delicious and the service was first class. In fact all the staff throughout the yacht were brilliant, friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again it was a wonderful treat bought for me as a birthday present.

The hotel room, staff, and views are beautiful, staff are very helpful and the room is very spacious and comfortable with stunning night time views. The thing that let them down was the dress code.if some of.the guessed, some had gone to dinner in their logo work t shirts and dirty scruffy jeans kind of.let the vibe down. The restaurant is pretty but the food was disgusting, fish was dripping in oil, peas where cold. Noodles were freezing, overall we paid alot of money for a 3 course meal and we only had a few mouthfuls as it tasted too greasy and sickly. Next morning we had breakfast, that was OK but they had not enough seating for the amount of people staying, we had pre booked but was told to wander around for around 20 minute look for a seat I would recommend the hotel stay but sorry would tell people to avoid the restaurant.
