The Battle Proms offers the opportunity to enjoy a glorious summer evening set in the grounds of some of the UK’s most celebrated stately homes. As well as a full orchestral programme there’s a parachute display, historic mounted cavalry, spectacular fireworks and Spitfire display on the bill, and all of this will be enjoyed whilst you savour the delights of a delicious freshly prepared picnic!
The show kicks off with a colourful display of British cavalry through the ages, then it’s time to look to the skies to watch a stunning parachute display by the Red Devils. The musical entertainment begins with a live warm-up act to get the toes tapping and wine corks popping, and then the evening gun salute heralds the commencement of the orchestral programme and the arrival of Britain’s favourite warplane. Amidst a volley of gunfire, you’ll hear the unmistakable sound of the Spitfire engine rumbling overhead, followed by a meticulously choreographed aerial display which takes place in the evening sky above.
The New English Concert Orchestra take to the stage with classical favourites such as the event’s signature piece, Beethoven's 'Battle Symphony', with a full complement of nearly 200 cannons, plus musket fire and fireworks providing a unique and breath-taking musical performance! The evening will close with a traditional flag-waving sing-along finale including Jerusalem, Rule Britannia and more, culminating in a dazzling fireworks extravaganza.
Enjoy this quintessentially British event with the perfect accompaniment of an appetising deluxe picnic filled with tempting hearty treats and a chilled bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. My son bought the Proms picnic as a birthday treat and my daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Music was lovely and the coordination when the Spitfire flew over was glorious. The highlight was the fireworks which were fantastic. The Picnic box was a delight and the food well prepared and served. The only problem we had was trying to find our car at the end. We knew the park number and the row we were in, but really more lights were needed. All in all a great Saturday. Thank you.

The picnic my daughters ordered for us at the Highclere Castle Battle Prom was superb - we never expected to find such a box of goodies - everything from dips and bics through to chicken and salad, quiche, and then choc dessert, not to forget the wine and water and chocs. Actually I've a feeling I left something out, but it was all so tasty and fresh. Congratulations.
