Overview

Embark on an action-fuelled adventure together as you take the controls of a tank and fire giant paintballs at a target.

Tanks are renowned for offering a driving experience like no other, with just levers to manoeuvre instead of a steering wheel and what could be a more perfect way to enjoy the thrill of driving this historical vehicle than on a World War Two bombing range? With the addition of a giant paint cannon at the end, you’ll be able to unleash your competitive streak as you try and aim it closer to the target.

It’s the perfect way for Father and Son to bond, but please note this gift voucher is not just for ‘Dads and Lads’ though, as Mums and Daughters are also invited to join in, or if you just enjoy the thrill of being active outdoors looking for a unique experience!

Alongside this enthralling experience, this site offers additional facilities to enjoy, with a café if you fancy a bite to eat, along with an on-site museum, home to an array of historical tanks, with some that have featured in famous films including Saving Private Ryan. Some exhibits are also hands-on, where you get a real feel for their historical significance.

Before the fun begins, you’ll sign a disclaimer and be suited up in official tank-driving gear so you’ll really look the part for this thrilling activity!

An instructor will provide a health and safety brief and show you everything you need to know about tank driving during a demonstration lap, along with a short background on tanks themselves. You’ll learn about the tank’s different controls and how to steer whilst sitting back in the turret seats, enjoying the different twists and turns of the varied terrain. It’s a perfect confidence builder before Dad becomes the driver, where he’ll take the tank for 2 laps around the track. The hatch will be open for one lap and closed for the other, which is where you’ll truly be left to your own devices to enjoy the thrill of tank driving. With advice being provided by the instructor through a headset, it’ll feel like a real-life combat tank driving scenario. The child will be sitting up at the front, experiencing first-hand the exciting views of riding in a tank as they’re taken across the challenging course.

The action doesn’t stop there after you’ve hopped off the tank, as you’ll put your best aiming skills to the test with a paint cannon, which shoots massive paint balls at a target. You’ll be shown how to use this before you battle it out to see who has the better shot out of you both!

What did you get up to?
We found the location very easily after going through a small quaint village, we were very early so stopped off and enjoyed a great lunch at the local pub.
After lunch we moved on to Armageddon only 2 miles further down the road. We had a stroll around the museum while we waited for our experience at 14:30. After the museum, we grabbed a snack and watched others taking part in their experiences.
Charles took us to the tank and explained a lot about it answering every question we had confidently. We got in and it is very tight to move around and there was only 2 of us, hard to imagine what it is like with more than that. Charles took us round the 1st lap and then we stopped and shot the paintballs! The tank driving was one lap through the top while being able to see everything and then with the hatch closed, great fun but with the hatch closed it is tight and you can see very little, only relying on the commands from above. After all this you get to reverse park a 17.5 ton tank, interesting comes to mind.

What did you enjoy the most?
Firing paintballs from the tank whilst listening carefully to the commands from above! It was a great sense of achievement!
